MEDFORD, Ore. -The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is taking public comment about a proposed law that would require hunters to wear blaze orange clothing.
ODFW says a rise in hunting accidents has led to several different proposals requiring hunters to wear different amounts of orange.
At an Oregon Hunters Association meeting Thursday, some members said they support safe hunting, but want the right to choose their clothing.
"I think if anyone thought about it, they would say, 'this is a good idea, but I go along with OHA in that everyone should be able to choose'," OHA President Ron Sheval said.
ODFW is accepting public comment on the issue by mail until June 4th.
If passed, Oregon would be the 41st state to require blaze orange clothing for hunters.
